Bill Gates Files Online Ad Patent Application

Bill Gates is a CO-INVENTOR listed on a new U.S. Patent application. The invention describes "how a points-based system could be used to, among other things, figure out whether people who click on ads actually end up doing business with the advertisers," according to Seattle P.I. blogger Todd Bishop.

Bill Gates Backs 'Huggable' Medical Robot

Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates is throwing Microsoft money at a Belgian company called Anty, which is developing "an intelligent, autonomous HUGGY ROBOT." Gates is quoted in a HealthEurope article as saying, "They are creating a robot called 'Probo' (I don't like the sound of THAT. -Ed.) which will be used as a tele-interface to interact with the children on three different levels: entertainment, communication and medical treatments. The R&MM research group will take care of the mechanical part of the robot, whereas ETRO will focus on the aspects of vision, hearing and speech."

Bill Gates Foundation Invests In McDonald's

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, built on Microsoft money and supposedly dedicated to global health issues, is a major investor in junk-food giant McDonald's, Gates disclosed yesterday. So while Gates and company are curing diseases like malaria and tuberculosis in the third world, they're FINANCING DISEASES like obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease in the industrialized world.
