New Chinese cell phone runs Windows XP
A Chinese company called In Technology Group unveiled the world's first (and possibly last) cell phone that runs Microsoft Windows XP. Called the xpPhone, the device runs on a customized AMD chip. It has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 120 GB hard drive, 4.8-inch LCD and supports Wi-Fi, WiMax and GPS.

Seriously. Why.
There is a reason where there are mobile OSes, besides stability, Security and oh yeah battery economy.
There are actually millions of reasons for this thing - as in applications. It finally seamlessly integrates my cell with my desktop. Software development is soooo SOOO much easier. Multi-tasking, multi-threading, C++, C#,.Net, Java, and every other language imaginable. Networking, VPN, Remote desktop. Finally - this is what I've been waiting decades for - Intel x86 architecture/windows everywhere (I'm sure it will run Linux x86 as well...). No more cross compiling to ARM and other procesors, no more Palm O/S, Symbian, Maemo, etc. Develop and run on desktop Windows or Linux and run your exece directly. This type of product could unleash millions of programmers.
All it needs is a simple startup shell (similar to the iPhone), with the ability to escape to the standard windows environment.
Just check on this over at tech-ex. Saddly, this is too large. If it were the size of my N810 which is still pocketable, it would have been great. Still useful, but I was hoping for something closer to an I-phone running XP.
