Google may stop playing 'beta' games

I told you back in February: "Don't be fooled by Google's phony 'beta' label." The company simply slaps a "beta" designation on offerings in a way that seems random -- Gmail, for example, has been in "beta" for five years. Now, the company is having second thoughts because enterprise customers might shy away from risky-sounding beta products. The company is thinking about removing beta designations for some products aimed at business customers.
