Cell phone service coming to Mount Everest

Nepal Telecom is planning to start offering cell phone service on Mount Everest by June, according to a company spokesman. They'll connect a base station via satellite, and will handle up to 3,000 calls at a time.

Cel phone service on Everest? Yes, this will be useful for calling someone to clean up the mess all those hikers have left behind.

The cel phone is clearly the techie version of crack cocaine... you can tell by all these cel-addicted retards who continue to kill their brain cells and annoy others with their inconsequential calls that are conducted at MAX volume, or how they check their phones every five seconds in the dark of the movie theater.

Wow, are there really that many people that climb Everest on a consistent enough basis that it would be worthwhile to build a tower there? Man, how would you like to be the contractor for that job?! No thanks!

"Making a phone call from the summit of Everest has become possible thanks to a mobile base station installed in China that has line of sight to the north side of the mountain."
