Somehow, I don't see this project working out. Planes have to be light weight. Subs have to be sturdy, watertight and able to handle substantial water pressure. This is probably a worse idea than the oft-dreamed of Plane/Automobile. The requirements are just too disparate.
It may be a difficult challenge, and the disparity between the required environments may be great, but don't let anybody's negative comments keep you from striving for design excellence. It may never work, but that shouldn't discourage us from trying. Think of what we'll learn along the way! Besides... An Airbus A380, a Boeing 747-400, and an Antonov An-225 aren't exactly light, and they still fly.
Conventional technology, lets just say I don't see pigs flying out my window. Now if you want to talk about thinking how should we say outside of the box, and peer into the galactic tech void that is not supposed to be talked about in mixed company This leaves the relm of theory and becomes reality along with other nice touches that decrease mass, increase hull integrity and it would have to be understood this cannot work with current conventional propulsion (no standard fossil fuel AND NO CONVENTIONAL NUCLEAR REACTOR!!!!). I do have at least one idea in mind.
Would I do or even consider the idea. I would hope that individuals out there in the world of unconventional thinking would take a few moment to remember our current state of political affairs in our country and well the illusion of freedom and liberty that is the current state of reality before you would use your God given talent to enrich the military toy chest of such a violent and repressive group of assholes. Think before you build because the nice, neat, and novel thing you just created may be used to remove you and yours from the gene pool if you get my drift.
