Cell Phone Lets You See Through Walls

Unless we're all being punk'd, Tokyo University and KDDI have put together software called "Real Space See-through Mobile" that uses six sensors built into the phone to figure out the surrounding area -- including adjacent rooms -- and DISPLAYS IT IN 3G. Yeah, I don't get it, either.

I like the concept of sensing your transportation method, that would be a valuable tool for a GPS as it would give different routes for walkers, bikers, drivers, or people on a train. Maybe long term data could let the phone determine that a particular person is willing to walk one mile but another only 1000 feet allowing it to suggest a subway or bus instead of a long walk.

But the weird display of nearby hidden objects (which I don't think is "seeing through walls" but actually more pulling information from a database) doesn't seem all that useful to me. And I think you meant it displays it in "3D", although it probably counts as "3G" even if it uses Japan's screwed up phone system. :)

I'm still waiting for the X-Ray glasses I ordered from the back of a comic book in 1965... ;)

Can it also see through clothing?

*Remembers the good ol' x-ray glasses of the '70s...*
