New, Post-Seinfeld Ads Hit Apple Ads Head-On
Microsoft dumped Jerry Seinfeld as pitchman, pulling an ad series before it even got a chance to mention the "V" word (Vista). Now, it's pushed to TVs new ads that directly attack the "Hi, I'm a Mac. And I'm a PC" ads that Apple has used to such devastating effect. Microsoft's message: Hey, Windows users are people, too.

Comments:
Imitation and all that aside, at least these are better than those Seinfeld abominations.
Not perfect (I would have hit back harder at that smarmy Mac guy who thinks he's too cool for words and played on the animosity of every woman who ever had a disasterous relationship with someone just like him)but MUCH better than the Seinfeld stuff that just left you sitting there wondering if it was supposed to be funny.
I love the Seinfeld adds.
$300 Million Dollars.... for nothing. (Thanks Jerry, you delivered exactly what you always have.)
Classic example of the difference between Apple and Microsoft. At Apple, those Seienfeld adds never would have seen the light of day (never mind even have been dreamt up or funded.)
My God they don't even know what funny looks like???? Too much money, not enough vision. MS need to get rid of all the "MBA" types and bring in new blood who can innovate.
This is why each companies products are what they are. Vision, innovation, taste, connection with the user...
Cheers,
Rich
Derivative. Just reminds people of the Apple ads which actually SAID something specific. If you try to stand for everything, you stand for nothing. The best $300M could do was rework a 3-year-old idea?
I'd rather hang out with republicans than these people!
Microsloth needs to fire their ad agency!
These new "I am a PC" ads are worse than the Seinfeld ads. What's next, a "Got Milk" parody?
Looks like Microsoft has redeemed themselves. Bravo. Bill, can you do the robot again?
Check out the June 08 issue of Fast Company where they get all a-twitter over Bogusky and company making Microsoft "cool"
http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/126/believe-it-or-not-hes-a-pc.html
Cover text said something like "Can this dude make Microsoft cool?"
Should have had a sub-title that read "Only if he has an iceberg chained to his [insert three letter word for gluteus maximus!]" (sub-sub-title in small print below that should have read: and can convince SB that his true calling is really in making motivational movies for developers, developers, developers, developers, deevelopers!!!! or as a test subject for "never let them see you sweat" fabric. ;) )
Again, more money than brains at MS. (Which isn't to say there aren't some very brilliant people there, more a reflection on their current leadership or lack thereof.
just my .02 (only slightly tongue-in-cheek)

I actually liked the Seinfeld ads; I thought they were funny. I find these to be too repetitive and annoying.
So, these are what? Microsoft's version of the "Think Different" ads Apple did how many years ago.
Oh, and Deepak Chopra? Gag. "Hi, I'm the worst possible celebrity endorsement you could have.*"
*Except for Jerry.
