MIT Students Trying to Build a $12 Computer
I told you Wednesday that India's announced $10 computer project was really a $100 computer, but that the official who announced it had a missing zero in the transcript of his speech. MIT students are trying to build a REAL $12 COMPUTER for third world countries -- based on the venerable Apple II, of all things. [UPDATE: Computerworld's Eric Lai reports that the system is based on the Famicon (the Chinese version of the original Nintendo Entertainment System), not the Apple II.]
