Israel to Create Fingerprint Database of All Citizens
The Israeli government approved today the establishment of a BIOMETRIC DATABASE by the Ministry of Interior and the Public Security Ministry. The Knesset still needs to approve the motion before it becomes law. If passed, all Israeli citizens would get fingerprint and face scans to be stored in a national database and used for IDs and passports.

Comments:
As a matter of fact, a recently approved law in Italy requires mandatory fingerprints on every ID card, beginning in 2010.
Here the news in italian, here in english.
