Face Scanning Cigarette Machine Foiled By Photos
I told you back in November about a Japanese cigarette vending machine that uses a face-scanning system called the Child Check System to guess the age of the buyer before processing the purchase. A new report claims that the machine is easily fooled by simply holding up a MAGAZINE PHOTO of an older person.

This scheme is no longer being used in Japan. It has been replaced by TASPO, an ID card that contains personal information and is issued to adults (persons over 20). There has been much resistance to this and convenience stores in Japan have seen a spike in cigarette sales as smokers have moved to make in store purchases than purchase through vending machines
