Network Solutions Censors Anti-Koran Web Site
The American web hosting company, Network Solutions, has SHUT DOWN and is investigating the web site for the film Fitna, a documentary made by Dutch politician Geert Wilder, which makes the case that the Koran is fundamentally incompatible with the idea of individual freedom. The entire film was to be posted on the site. Meanwhile, most radical islamic web sites, which explicity call for the murder of innocent civilians, continue to be hosted in the United States by other Web hosts.

Right, exactly! This has nothing to do with anyone's opinion. It has to do with free speech, and this is extremely maddening.
If this enrages you, look at Google's censorship, not just in China, but on YouTube video rankings and the like. I have experienced this firsthand and nothing is more infuriating in our so-called "free" country.

Reply: Some Danish claimed the action of showing the film would interfere with the Danish troops and there relationships with the Afganastan people in Afganistan.

Well, Mr. Wilders does go a bit further than that... He has stated on more than one occasion Islam is a fascist movement, and that the Koran should be prohibited (how's that for free speech?)

"Free speech" is the right to stand there (in a public space or on your own front lawn, not mine) and bump your gums about anything you please.
It is not the "right" to post anything you please on a web server owned by some one else.
A "Free Press" can be construed as the right to post what ever you please on a server You own (as in a news paper you own), but not in somebody else's 'newspaper'.
Network Solutions can refuse your business, just like a printer can refuse to print your hand bills.
that is an interesting argument about Network Solutions owning the server. But with that logic you could also say that you can have free speech when you talk on the phone because you don't own the phone company, you are only renting the lines that come into your house. With that in mind the phone company can listen to your calls and then cut your service because they don't like your point of view on whatever. Network Solutions is practicing selective censorship, and they are being hypocritical to allow many web sites that degrade woman, advocate bombing of whoever, and yet, they won't let this Dutch film get shown online. This is not right in my book. Anyway....all anybody has to do is change companies to post the site or change domains.
