Internet Addiction Now a 'Public Health Issue'

"Excessive gaming, viewing online pornography, emailing and text messaging have been identified as causes of a compulsive-impulsive disorder by Dr Jerald Block, author of an editorial for the respected American Journal of Psychiatry." Dr. Block says it's time to add internet addiction to the official Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of MENTAL DISORDERS. Do you agree with that? And do you have it?

There needs to be more education on
how the internet can be used in a none addictive manner. Encouraging other fun activities can be useful, like sports. Find out what your son
likes online...buy him a skateboard
or paint ball gun to help understand the other things he's missing out on when he's on the computer.

i have been using the internet before it was for sale and more used by the dept . of def. i find its like all those luxuries technolgy brings, it can be of great use and it can be abused. it was kminda fun to talk around the world until the rash of grifters, scammers and unreal people, usually west africa is a sure sign of trouble. at this time this issue of people using scams online in non extraditioal countries like nigeria is more of a problem. i do think the addiction is real. gamming is replacing creativity, maybe worse thn tv...ick. get a real life and then decide if you need it all any way. harold ewing at yahoo . com.
