Underground 'SneakerNet' Growing In Cuba
Like many other things we take for granted, the Internet is out of reach for most Cubans because of a combination of outright bans, tight controls and the fact that people are too poor to afford access to the rare public cyber cafes. Still, an illegal underground network of digital information -- videos, news reports and more -- moves VIA FLASH DRIVE, carried in hand from place to place and viewed on cell phones or digital cameras. One of the big hits on this hand-made "Internet" is the video I told you about February 7 of a computer science student bravely asking a government official basic questions about various forms of government oppression.
