I wouldn't consider that news; more than half of the students in my college classes who have laptops are on Facebook throughout the entire class.
Won't be long now until that's banned by the university's servers, too.
Perhaps if the lessons held any kind of interest for them, they'd pay attention to them and not Facebook. Why is it that education has to be something you force people to do against their will? The UK education system is causing a lot of children to be unhappy (according to a recent UNICEF report, it's the bottom of the league for child wellbeing). I suspect that banning Facebook would not be useful nor would it contribute to anything positive at all.
I can say the same think in the USA also. Why does education have to be so boring or uninteresting that a student feels compelled to look at Facebook instead of paying attention?
Thus furnishing cheap labor in the future for the students who pay attention in class.
What I am waiting for is the opposite to the FaceBook. I want a GluteBook, where we can all be judged on how hot/not hot our glutes are. As a big bike rider, I am sure that Mike would get a high rating on the GluteBook, showing off his rock hard back-side. And let's not forget people like Goldie Hawn, who just love to show thiers off. Who are we to deny anybody the chance to bask in the glory of a glutebook. What say yous?
