Starbucks Announces Free Wi-Fi (As I Predicted)
I told you October 11 that Starbucks would start rolling out free Wi-Fi access within one year. Today, that prediction came true. Starbucks announced that it's dumping longtime partner T-Mobile and switching to AT&T. People who use the Starbucks debit card will now get TWO HOURS OF FREE WI-FI per day.

Comments:
I don't understand -- everyone is touting this as "free" wifi, but one must use a Starbucks debit card in order to get it "free."
This doesn't sound "free" to me. I can't just walk into Starbucks and use the wifi, I have to not only make a purchase but I have to use their own special currency to do so.
It's not "unlimited free WiFi."
When you pay $20 for a debit card, and use it to get $20 worth of whatever you want to buy at Starbucks, and also you get to now use their WiFi network at no additional cost, what do you call that?
If it's not free, then what is the cost? $20? If so, the coffee is free.
