Researchers Invent 'Breathalyzer' For Disease

Scientists at National Institute of Standards and Technology and the University of Colorado at Boulder have demonstrated the use of laser beams to detect evidence of diseases like asthma or cancer in a person's breath. Called -- what else? -- cavity-enhanced direct optical frequency comb spectroscopy, the technique could lead to BREATHALYZERS FOR DISEASE that could be used by doctors for instant diagnosis.
