Truly amazing.. the grey market on iPhones was huge... even on launch day, I remember people coming into the Apple store, walking up to the counter and asking to buy 50 of them... fortunately the limit was two.. but still...

The US should just enforce very strict IP laws in China. Death penalty for any person who steals or copies and I'm sure they'd stop. The Chinese are a weak people without shame and this is the only way to deal with them. The Japanese at least have honor.

Actually, I think an intelligent, educated, and well informed racist would be worse... but does it seem to anyone else that this article is a bit deficient in facts, let alone content?

"at least the Japanese have honor?"
first of all... how does stealing ipod make a whole race of people have less honor than another race. secondly, at least the chinese fought with the americans during the war. The Japs killed, captured and tortured hundreds of thousands of Americans + other allied nationals. where is your honor at?

I'll say in Portuguese, because my words are something like "fuck all of you, american racists":

Imbecis de merda, capitalistas debochados! Seus governantes abusam da mão-de-obra barata dos outros países. A China VIABILIZA SEUS SONHOS, demônios! Não ajam como se eles tivessem culpa de um roubo que pode ter sido praticado por vocês mesmos, pelas mãos de um concorrente americano!

IMBECIS!

You know they're racists, but how do you know they're Americans?

Is that assumption based on cultural bigotry, too?

Well, since your beloved Apple Corporation is entrusting these nips them to make their product, shouldn't you be more concerned about your American executives who outsource iphones to oversea nips?

Guys,

First, the pic shown above is from an old apple story, re the bad treatment of factory staff in the 'Ipod village'

Second, i love apple products, but not there greedy globalisation attitude. They have all the advantages of sourcing and selling their products globally, i.e iTunes US versus UK prices etc, but treat the customer as stupidly tight to the local community, merely travelling from the East to the West coast.

Finally, USA/Europe don't be afraid of China. If Apple uses super cheap resources for assembling their products, they have to cope with that risk. Would you like to get USD 100 per month knowing that this product sells for 450 Euro in China?! At least they should pay those more, who take care of the schematics.

Racists, crawl back under the stone where you come from.

*If you're against "globalization" and want to see the "Made in USA" logo, prepare to spend $1,000 for an iPod Nano, $75 for blue jeans, etc. etc.
Are you ready to?
*China devalues it's currency to undercut the dollar.
China is buying all our debt. China steals our tech secrets. China is building a Navy and Military at an astounding rate... and we seem more than willing to let them bury us. Unless we wake up, the 21st century will belong to China.
*Putin in Russia is following the Chinese model too...
Wake up and start SAVING your money. Today.

What do you mean by “steals our state secrets”? IBM happily sold its PC business to Lenovo, China, with the US Government agreeing to that deal. The US pumps billions into the Chinese market to secure its share. How hypocritical can that be.

You have to locate your worries in history. 100 years ago the West did that to China what China ‘does’ today to the West, but without force and humiliation. I thought it’s a rumor, but some are really scared of China or Russia.

You might argue, look at their understanding of law and human rights. But then, the US violates its own virtues when ever it seems necessary.

Let’s feel sad about S.Job’s loss of his schematics. Nevertheless, he already sold 400’ of his phones, according to this blog, in China. Poor him. Of cause, he is in a bad negotiation position with China Mobile. If you would truly mind, he should take more care.

So, I am not against globalisation, but against racism. This particular thread is full of it.

I am not against ‘free economy’ - whatever that means - but against one without a powerful counter-force. So that the S.Jobs of this planet cannot do whatever they want to do. Let justice interrupt. No better world, but it is all there is and all what we have.

Finally, I dont care about “made in US”. I am not from that country. So don’t be scared, now.

Nice reply. A refreshing point of view in a virtual cesspool of bigotry. I am not sure what is more alarming: product piracy in China, or overt racism by people in the West who, more likely than not, have never had to worry about where their next meal was coming from. However, these people will eventually have their own personal Waterloo. It is just a matter of time. Perhaps one day they will choke on their own sage words they posted in this thread.
