Would You Read a Book On Your Cell Phone?

Half of Japan's bestselling books last year -- half! -- started out as cell phone-based books, according to the New York Times. Will cell phones become the medium of choice worldwide for novels and full-length non-fiction books? Would you be willing to download short electronic books to your phone from iTunes or your carrier's web site or a third-party web site FOR A FEE?

Maybe if i was 15 again i would consider giving some of my attention to a book delivered to my mobile....But now at 29...no way i would change a real book for reading through a 320x200 (best case scenario) screen.

I guess that if "normal" marketing of e-books and associated readers will not work they can make the previous version (that is printed books) obsolete or not supported anymore so we are forced to buy the e-books...

Books from iTunes? Wouldn't that go against Jobs' comment about illiterate Mac users, prove his fallibility, and thereby negate all existence?

Taking a book or two into the outhouse on an electronic gizmo is a great convenience.
Been reading books on my aging Palm Pilot for years. You can pick a Palm m500 for $35 on eBay, and acquire books with your pc.
No need to screw with an already over burdened, feature laden cell phone.
Bad enough adding crummy cameras to cell phones. They have enough trouble just pretending to be telephones.
These multi function devices are really handy if you don't have pockets. Then again, I find I have better things to look at in a nudist camp than novels...

I would definitely do that on an Itouch, especially when out of the house but don't want to carry a heavy book. itunes is already seeling e-books, I just hope they add more soon.
