An Open Letter to the Ultraportable PC Industry

Dear Industry,

Another CES has come and gone, and you've demonstrated yet again that you haven't got a clue when it comes to designing, building or marketing an ultraportable computer. You have tried and failed to produce a successful ultraportable, when the criteria for doing so couldn't be more obvious. So I'm going to SPELL IT OUT FOR YOU. Digg it!

i think you got it almost exactly right, except for the screen size. low res or small screens make the devices annoying to use (i think this is the one thing that mossberg got right). i would say 9" would be a good compromise. i strongly agree with all your other points though - i hope industry takes your points to heart.

There should be an industry-consumer forum for consumers to interact with the designers, so there are no ASSUMPTIONS.

Well, the obvious question for you is, what about the Macbook Air? Does that meet all of your requirements? On the surface it seems to, but I'd like to see your comments on it.
