The Most Hated Company In the PC Industry

Who in the hell is Asustek, and why does Microsoft hate them more than any other company in the industry? Why does Apple, Dell and Palm Computing hate them? And why does Intel love them? HERE'S WHY. (Digg it HERE!)

it should also be noted that the living expense in taiwan is much different than in america. average salary is equivalent to $18,000 US... and an engineer's salary is $25,000 - $30,000 at most. (the figure is dropping because even Taiwan is outsourcing a lot of their own jobs to China!! and many international companies have switched to China for manufacturing instead of Taiwan...)

That means that for most people, purchasing a laptop is an exorbitant expense and requires several months (maybe a year) of savings... (keep in mind that most people use up the majority of their money on rent and public transportation)

oh, and Asustek's popularity is the equivalent of Dell in Taiwan. Most people want an Asus PC, but can't really afford one. The new EEE laptops give them something they can afford now.

Nice write up Mike. I've been buying Asus motherboards for awhile now. They seem to have the best blend of price and technology going.

Asus motherboards are well known for their high quality and multitude of features. It makes sense they would be the first out of the gate with an ulta small laptop replacement. I also like the fact that it runs linux and costs less than a copy of Vista Ultimate.
