Should You Buy An iPhone This Holiday Season?
Writer Tracy Mayor put the Question of the Year -- "Should you buy an iPhone this holiday season?" -- to Computerworld Editor-In-Chief Scot Finnie, PC World Editor-In-Chief Harry McCracken, Computerworld Online News Editor Ken Mingis and NPD Group Analyst Ross Rubin. The panel was tied -- two said "yes," and two said "no," so Tracy turned to me to BREAK THE TIE.

My excuse for not owning an iPhone is my employer provides me a blackberry so I went out an purchased an iTouch and now have been showing it off at every chance to convince our company to reconsider it's verizon loyalty. When I travel I have to pack a laptop, GPS, Camera, and my Blackberry. Had my iTouch included the GPS and a decent camera I may not be as envious. Nither will replace the laptop for some uses, but the iTouch is what I reach for anytime I need a quick peek at the web. The blackberry browser over Verizon is a snails pace in comparisoion to iTouch over WiFi. I pull over to a hot-spot usually in less time than Verizon can load google maps.
Yes, you should consider the iPhone if you are hunting for a Pda, or phone, or media player. It is excellent IMHO.
If you dont need it though, dont buy it.
Absolutely not. The iPhone is being sued in a class action lawsuit for false advertising. The battery is welded to the phone and one can only get so many charges out of the battery. Once that battery is consumed, you MUST send it back to the manufacturer for repair costing upwards to 80.00. So there you go.......don't buy one until this battery situation is figured out and corrected.
