Robotic Turkey Used to Catch Illegal Hunters
Texas game wardens are using a ROBOTIC REMOTE-CONTROLLED TURKEY to catch illegal hunters. Wardens put the fake turkey by the side of the road, and use a remote control unit to simulate turkey movements. When someone does a drive-by shooting, they give him a ticket.

heh. let's look at the economics here. From this quote, they claim that it really is worth it.
“We sit out here hundreds and hundreds of hours and you might get one person to do something. You just have to be in the right place at the right time. We can replace the decoys; we can't replace the living animal. I think it's worth it,”
Assume said cop sits for hundreds and hundreds of hour and is paid minimum wage for just sitting.
According to http://www.twc.state.tx.us/ui/lablaw/tmwsum.html
the minimum wage is $5.85.
Now, according to the news site, the fine is maximum of $500. Assuming "hundreds and hundreds" of hours means they catch one person every 160 hours (about 1 month of pay on a 5 day a week work schedule), then he costs taxpayers $936 and only reaps $500.
This idea doesn't really seem too cost effective unless turkey hunting really is endangering families.
