this function did not work on my phone.
I didn't mention this in my blog post (but did in the item I linked to) that you need to install the new version. Click on the link and get the address on the site I link to.

I downloaded the new beta version, and it gets pretty close. within 4 blocks. I have an ulimited data plan, so it doesn't matter to me, but it would probably be cheaper to just get a GPS if a person were paying for the data transfer.
Can google get this to function by IP location as well over WiFi on my iTouch? That would be more benificial. Verizon's map load on my BB is slugish.
I doubt it. It's an app that doesn't even run on the iPhone.

For some strange reason it shows i am Dubai.
I am in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa.
It takes ages to load, and then just keeps on reloading and reloading.
Any idea when a newer version would be available?
That's an interesting result. Maybe a Dubai company is providing the cell phone service there in Jeffreys Bay?

Hmmm...
My service provider is Vodacom South Africa.
Oh, well.
I will see if it gets sorted out sometime.
