Ruggedized, Waterproof Solar Charger Hits

We've seen solar chargers before, but the $139 Power Monkey Explorer Charger is both small and -- best of all -- WATER RESISTANT AND RUGGEDIZED, so it's ideal for sailing, hiking and those ill-advised road trips to Burning Man. The Power Monkey stores enough juice for 40 hours of iPod use, 96 hours of cell phone use and 1,600 pictures, according to the company. (props to EcoGeek)

Its NOT WATERPROOF, its easier to get a water resistant rating than it is to buy a G rated movie ticket. Anything can be "splash proof". Paper can be considered splash proof if you want to get technical. The only company I know of for sure that has a REAL waterproof solar charger is G24 Innovations. We call ours the Power Curve. As far as I can tell this one leaves the competition in the dust, or water. Ive seen Marines using these chargers here and overseas. Weve recently posted YouTube vids of us beating the hell out of all of our stuff. Beware of the hype, waterproof should NOT be a relative term.
