Prediction: Starbucks Wi-Fi Will Soon Be Free
Prediction: Starbucks will start rolling out free Wi-Fi access within one year. Why? Because free Wi-Fi will enable the coffee giant to make more money on both coffee and Internet-based services and product sales. And also because McDonald's is STEALING STARBUCKS' CUSTOMERS with its own free Wi-Fi. 10.15.07 UPDATE: The Seattle Post-Intelligencer picked up the story, and was unable to get a denial from Starbucks.

Comments:
This is only true for places where you don't have a Starbucks right next to a McDonald's like they do near my house. You can actually sit and sip your coffee while using the MickeyD wi-fi.
on a serious note - I believe every eatery will have free wi-fi soon. Out here in ATL we have free wi-fi at McD, Panera, J. Christopher and more.
The kid in the photo has terrible posture! Don't sit like that when you use your computer. Please!
His posture may be the result of him carrying around a giant CRT and desktop computer as a mobile computer...

They will get even more people buying one grande drip, getting the 50 cent refill, taking up space for hours, to the detriment of a more affluent customer who has no hesitation spending the $30 a month for T-Mobile Wi-Fi access, and, presumably, the $5 for a Pumpkin Spiced Latte.
Uhm yeah Dave, those poor affluent people- who will plead their plight? Oh I guess it's you. Imagine the riff raff mingling amongst the digital caffeinated elite, with their Wal-mart clothes and soiled fingers slurping $1.50 joe and watching the numa-numa dance. What a travesty? WTF?
