Native American Nation Plans Biometric ID Cards

The Blackfeet Nation Reservation in Montana borders Canada, but many tribal members live in Canada and cross-border travel is common. The Nation plans to use Veritec VSCode ID cards, which "use BIOMETRIC TECHNOLOGY and store identification information from fingerprints to photos to any identifiers the nation requests on a card that will be read by scanners, readers and cameras," to speed processing through immigration. Canadian and American immigration services haven't approved the cards yet. The Blackfeet are hoping to replace passports with the cards, and one day set up their own Blackfeet border crossing.
