Mall Camera System Guesses Your Age, Gender

A $19,000 intelligent camera system from NEC called FieldAnalyst is designed to figure out your age, gender and, eventually, SOCIAL CLASS. Malls are using early versions in Japan. The system takes your picture, then compares your photo against pictures of other people in a database about whom such information is already known. Based on these comparisons, included software spits out detailed but estimated demographics based entirely on appearance.
