What is wrong with keeping
an American Built AF one ?
Uh, no. Not gonna happen.
While I'd prefer that Air Force One remain a Boeing, the Marines are already buying a European-designed helicopter (US101) to serve as Marine One, so the barrier has already been breached.
Besides, for AF1 duty, it's not like the USAF will buy 100s of A380s, just two or three. Airbus desperately needs the business and will heavily discount that flying beast.
Boeing will be better off if the USAF selects the KC-767 instead of the Airbus KC-30 for its next tanker: that's an order for 100s of airplanes.
WHy would we even consider sending our tax dollars overseas anyway? What? Cant Boeing build a good enoguh plane? And why should we consider "fairness" in "giving Boeing the tankers" so we can "give Airbus the AF-1"? Who says we need to even worry about that? ITS OUR MONEY! I'll thank our "leaders" to keep our desperately needed tax dollars AT HOME. Wouldnt it be stupid to go bail out the auto and banking industry and then turn around and send a ton of our money to Europe? Besides, when was the last time Europe sided with us on anything???
