18,000 Web Sites Shut Down In China

In a crackdown designed to muzzle criticism in advance of a big communist party meeting, the Chinese government says they've BLOCKED ACCESS TO 18,401 WEB SITES. Official news sources (is there any other kind in China?) emphasize the porn sites shut down, and play down the closure of political sites.
