Syria Launches Massive Internet Crackdown
Syria has launched a MASSIVE CRACKDOWN on internet users in advance of a "new media law" that will clarify "restrictions on electronic media." The government has already blocked Blogspot, and is seeking to shut down access to message boards, blog comments and other places where people can complain about or organize against the government. Syrian security agents have also "summoned a large number of Internet users, writers, and web designers for investigation," according to The Memri Blog.
