Only In L.A.: Google Maps Murder Mashup
The Los Angeles Times newspaper has built a brilliant Google Maps mashup called THE HOMICIDE MAP showing all murders in the city this year (515 at post time). The functionality of the data presentation, and user-selectable options for specifying age, race, gender, cause of death and day of the week are enough to make Edward Tufte cry.

Actually, LA isn't the first city to have a homicide google maps mashup. The Toronto Star in Toronto, Ontario, Canada has been doing this since 2005:
