Nobody Agrees On Why to Boycott Olympics
It seems like everyone these days wants to boycott next year's Olympic Games or boycott Chinese products to protest China's horrible actions, but nobody agrees about WHICH horrible actions to protest. People want to boycott China because of cultural genocide in Tibet; regular genocide in Darfur; defective and dangerous products; animial cruelty; repression of citizens; censorship; repression of the Falun Gong; even unsafe fireworks.
Liberals want to boycott China, Conservatives do, too. Religious people, athiests, Europeans, North Americans, Africans, Asians -- even Chinese people -- everyone has reasons for a boycott.
A Google Search for "boycott China" brings up more than 2 million pages.
Even the architect who designed the new Olympic Statium is "disgusted" at the "FAKE SMILE" China is putting on for the Olympics.
So here's the question for you Raw Feeders: Is Boycotting the Beijing Olympics or boycotting Chinese products the right thing to do? And if so, why? (Post your comments here.)

I feel that it is ridiculous to even think about this at all. Especially for the reason of unsafe products/knock off brands being produced in China. Any American that says this is a hypocrit. If you look at the brief history of the United States we were guilty of all the same things. We knocked off fine European products like it was no ones business....so why now point the finger at China?
An American is only a hypocrite on this question if he says it's OK for America and not OK for China.
It's a reasonable position to say that it's not (and was not) OK for America, and not OK for China, either.
*****why now point the finger at China?*****
Here's another question: Why NOT point the finger at China?
I think the burden here is on the people who say that nothing should be done about China's genocide, dangerous manufacturing that kills people, animal cruelty, repression of Chinese citizens, etc.
Tell me why NOTHING should be done about any of this?

China's pollution levels and their unquenchable thirst for electricity by opening a power station every other week. Admittedly, both the UK and the USA had their industrial stages when we did this also, and yes there may be more Chinese than the USA and UK combined, but times change and the percentage of pollution they are releasing per person is higher than any other country, ever. If you buy phony Chinese stuff, you're pretty unobservant, is all I can say. The difference in quality is blindingly obvious, and if you buy on online sites such as eBay, what do you expect? They haven't really done much to inspire us with confidence!

They are all creepy people.(Chinese) esp. in the the goverment side. They should be put in Int'l Court for trying to gun down Qi Gong,Sut te, Laq Qui titi.
***** They are all creepy people.(Chinese) *****
No, you're completely wrong here.
I think it only looks like they're creepy because the government allows creepy people to get away with being creepy. The overwhelming majority of Chinese people are not sharing in the rapid economic growth, are not getting rich by being unethical, and are not creepy at all.
The Chinese people are victims of a very creepy political system, which they'll get rid of as soon as they can.
Let's not call the Chinese people creepy, OK? 'Cause that's just creepy.
