Microsoft Working On Mind-Reading Software
Microsoft researchers are working on a MIND-READING SYSTEM -- hardware and software that can "interface directly with the human brain." The company's R&D department has figured out how to use a "low-cost electroencephalograph" for "detecting specific forms of brain activity." Research papers associated with the project say that "knowing the state of the user as well as the tasks they are performing may provide key information that would allow us to design context sensitive systems that adapt themselves to optimally support the state of the user." The technology might also "know the precise intention of a user who searches for an ambiguous term."

So, extrapolating the technology development line, we'll be able to read the intentions as well as the ID of people entering secure areas, eg airports. I used to think it was just God who read and judged your thoughts.

i must say we should leave something to GOD, its impoosible to read the human mind and activities inside it.

The only people who seem to have time to leave comments are religious fanatics (you don’t have to shout God’s name) and people paranoid that everyone’s out to get them and their personal information. Oh, and me... :P
Its a good idea though I do not know how they are gonna test the whole thing. I can actually imagine the next step, Wireless Mind Reader!!!
It will be a very long time before it is possible to discern very detailed information. It will be even longer before it can be done without attaching leads. Since some form of direct mental interface is inevitable, it is time to think about how to deal with it, not how to avoid it. The record of our lifetimes is in our brains. Instead of declaring some religious domain and trying to play chicken little, we should think about what protections are required and reasonable. We need some, but wouldn't it be good to KNOW if someone were guilty, rather than incarcerating someone (or killing them) based on an interpretation of the "evidence"?
Uh, guys, we're not talking about reading someone's thoughts. That's way too complex.
Rather, it's going to be something simple, like a "mental mouse" or "mental joystick". Maybe it'll get to be as good as a "mental keyboard," but that'll be several generations down the road.
For the fearful ones out there, here's some hope. Just think about how good voice recognition is right now...not very. And it's been around for decades. "Mental interfaces" won't be much good for quite a while, I bet. (With Microsoft's track record, at least not until Service Pack 2. ;)
I say, "way to go, Microsoft!" Finally, a human interface device (HID) that will truly help those with gross motor malfunctions!

I'd wager you'd change your mind if you had an accident or developed a disease that left you without the use of parts of your body.

I think inventions should never stop. This is way to realize further research areas. However, we must need to identify source of coming instructions accurately. In such case, certainly the idea will work.
Some maniac gods have even less right to be in my mind than M$.
Anyway, this is one of the things which I'm not going to be part of. It's very unlikely that anyone is goind to develop enough secure interface for the thing.
However, it might not be that dangerous if it's not used permanently.
I don't know what to think of this but I'm sure that will soon be considered a software bug.
I'm at least happy that M$ shows the world the true state of the brain manipulation technology. The reality is that they can write your experiences from the satellite. O_O
It's called non lethal weapons, I'm sure you can find the bill some place, as you've willingly paid for it (obviously:-)

Mind Reading Software
As my company, Full Spectrum Software, focuses on medical and scientific software, we've had the opportunity to work on several neurodiagnostic applications.
I have to say, concerns about Big Brother reading your thoughts is quite premature. Rather, this type of technology is proving to be extremely valuable for the physically impaired. One company we've worked with is on the DARPA team working on the Proto 2 prosthetic arm. Consider the complexity of reading and interpreting just over 100 nerve signals and developing an algorithm to understand what the user intended as mechanical output of 25 degrees of motion. IMHO, we're quite far from "reading your thoughts."
I work for a pharmacutical company(BMS) as a Developer. When I work for BMS, Some sytems are connected to my mind to do some R&D process .Due to that reason , I left from that company.But still that connection is active.

I am into real estate. Mostly my thoughts & pictures that come to my mind of great designs , but I am not able to draw that perfectly the way it comes to my mind. I would definitely love to have such a software
