Monkeys Can Calculate Probabilities - Report
Researchers at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and the University of Washington in Seattle have shown that Rhesus monkeys can calculate probabilities if give the incentive of a drink. Monkeys were tasked to figure out which shape would be most likely given the four shapes out of ten already shown. "This is the first time monkeys have been shown to make such SUBTLE PROBABILISTIC INFERENCES," according to one of the scientists. What's next? Shakespeare? Unlikely.

Comments:
Good thing they can't teach humans to do that, no one would play the lottery and Vegas would shut down! I wonder if monkeys develop a "system"...
Good point.
Also: Note that both the researchers in this story and casinos in Vegas both incent primates with the same reward: A drink.
