Did Engadget Hurt Apple With False Rumor?

The gadget blog Engadget this week posted a rumor that Apple's iPhone ship date would be delayed from June to October, a rumor that temporarily drove Apple's stock price down more than three points -- about 2.2% of the stock's value. Did Engadget hurt Apple? The answer is no -- in fact blogs like Engadget are the best thing that ever happened to Apple. HERE'S WHY.

Count their blessing? Have you gone mad? The Internet may give you news seconds after it breaks and retractions as soon as the error is found. However, at the same time, the Internet also enables people to do online trading at the drop of the hat. In the past, you got the news from the newspaper and if you found a false article like Apple's, you called your stockbroker who probably would advise you to be cautious and if the stockbroker was any good, he'd have called Apple Relations to check the story already. It matters not if the retraction came 24 hours later. So, how is one supposed to count his blessing for losing thousands/millions of dollar due to a false rumor?

P.S. If you haven't figure it out yet, ask any Apple fan and he will tell you that Endgadget actually is anti-Apple for the most part. Why is Endgadget the best thing that ever happened to Apple then?

Yes.

Possibly.

And Engadget is preventing people from calling their brokers, or preventing brokers from advising against trades based on blog rumors? I don't see how people who choose to NOT call their broker and instead choose to instantly react to unverified rumors can blame Engadget.

I said "blogs like Engadget are the best thing that ever happened to Apple."

Don't look now, but Apple has been kicking butt since the blog movement surged. I think these two facts are linked, and you seem to imply that, somehow, Apple has been succeeding depite all those negative blogs.
