Some people's workstations are locked down at work and they can't change screensaver settings.
So it's not just for lazy people, it's also for people who want to violate the security rules at work! You probably already know this, but the company sells it as a computer forensic tool. Like many tools, it can be used for both good and evil. :)
It's not stupid. It's just that you don't work in a job where it would be useful. Talk to 70% of the AT&T employees and contractors that I support on the daily; they are begging for this.

I bought one for work. I have a screensaver setting that I can't overwrite (but used to be able to) for my work computer and yet I work from home! No one is going to see anything and it's just annoying to have to input my password if I've just gone to the kitchen for some water and a short break...this is awesome.

I work in a department where 3 of us share the same work station, each using our own login. One person has a very bad habit of walking away and not logging out. If it's not caught in time (within 5-10 minutes), the system locks up and only he can unlock it. Our only other option is a hard reboot - not advisable. We don't have the option of adjusting the time thanks to our wonderful IT Dept. and our company's security rules. I'm buying one!
This would be great - it would appear as if I was on non-stop (no "idle" messages on Skype or IM programmes). Hoorah!
