Sun Gets Into the Cell Phone OS Business

Sun Microsystems plans to aquire SavaJe Technologies, which makes a Java-based embedded OPERATING SYSTEM FOR CELL PHONES. That means Sun has bought its way into direct competition with the Garnet OS (that runs on Palm devices), Palm's newly announced Linux OS for Palm devices, Microsoft Windows Mobile, Symbian and Apple's iPhone OS.
