Michigan Democrats Propose iPod for Every Child

Some Democrats in the Michigan State Legislature are reportedly proposing that, when it comes to the iPod revolution, there will be NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND. The Detroit News is reporting that, despite a state budget deficit of more than $1 billion, the Democrats' spending plan includes the purchase of an MP3 player for every school child in the state.

Holy Crap, I LIVE in Michigan, things are bad here! our butlers have had to take paycuts, my chauffer as had to switch from our Mercedes to JUST a Cadillac.
But seriously, Michigan has structural problems like no other place in the country, if you aren't from here you can only imagine. There has to be back story to this story, there just has to be. As partisan as I am, I can't imagine a responsible member of the Michigan house proposing this.

I have to check the dateline on the original story...any chance that it was April 1?

Nope: April 6 is the date of the article. Can you look into it locally and come back and let us know what you find out?

I live in Michigan as well and I am appaled on almost a daily basis by how badly the Democrats are running the state.

This doesn't surprise me one bit. This type of thing will always happen as long at elections are more popularity contests than an attempt to find the best person for the job.

...and it's called buying votes.

I checked our local papers website www.freep.com and it is true.

I wouldn't go sofar as to go off on the dems as to say how badly they are running the state... but that's neither here nor there for this issue, as I said I'm partisan and leave it at that.

However this one issue blows my mind and makes me wonder. I scoured the detnews.com and freep.com and I couldn't find WHO had the stupid idea. The closest thing I could find to original source was an editorial post in the Detroit news, again unattributed as to who in the house actually proposed it.

The total lack of "Who What Where When" sorta makes me doubt that we are getting the whole story. (and please please please, God don't let it be MY state rep!!!! )

I resent people calling our Michigan Democrats legislators stupid! They aren't. They are corrupt. No doubt bought by who ever proposes to supply these bogus ipods.

Finest government money can buy!
Democrat: someone trying to steal enough money to become a Republican.
