Washing Machine Recycles Water, Dry Cleans
A new washing machine from Sanyo called the AQUA Washing Machine and available in Japan uses a device called an Aqualoop that RECYCLES WATER, so it can be used again and again. Another feature, called Air Wash, essentially dry cleans clothes with air and chemicals, just like the local dry cleaner does.

Comments:
We just bought one for our home in Japan last week.
The domestic version has a much more high-tech panel and costs JPY145,000 (approx US$12,100). It has a water heater so can steam clean the wash. You can use bath water for the initial wash to further conserve water, and its automatic sensors indicates when to run the automatic drum-cleaning cycle.
The above calculation to US$ should be US$12,100 -> US$1,2100. Sorry for the error
The recycled water is from the last rinse cycle only, not the water initially used to wash the clothes themselves. A water tank stores the last rinse cycle of water and uses osmosis, ozone and other filtration to clean the water until the next wash cycle. (The user has the option to not use the recycle function of the washer as well.)
Bloggers - From the country that brought the world Walkmans and Toyotas, I don't really think a global manufacturer would simply use dirty wash water to wash your next load of clothes again. Really.
This is not new people. When I was young my parents had a machine ( I think was a Maytag) that reused the wash water. This required a 2 basin wash tub. The soapy water would be reused which also cut down on the ammount detergents needed. Fresh water would be used to rinse the clothes.
Where can I get one of these machines in SA?
Is it available is SA?
