New Super Battery May Ship This Year
A secretive Texas startup called EEStor claims to have invented a battery technology that provides 10 TIMES the power of conventional batteries at half the cost -- without toxic chemicals. The new batteries can be used in cars, laptops and other gadgets, and may ship as early as this year -- in the ZENN car, pictured here.

Comments:
10 times the power of lead-acid batteries! That's the technology GM originally used in the early 1990's. Why do they feel the need to compare their hot new product wit 16 year old technology?
Even GM changed to the lighter and more powerful nickel-metal hydride batteries, that were also used in the original Prius.
Toyota is now working on a new kind of (safe) lithium-ion battery. 85mpg in combined city/hwy driving. Acceleration 0-60 in around 9 seconds. Should be out in 2009.
Good point!
