New Glass CD Shatters Record For Longevity
A Japanese company called N&F Label is selling the first-ever GLASS CD (a recording of Johann Sebastian Bach's "Air on G String."), which is supposed to provide superior quality sound and lasts "forever" without ever bending, distoring or deteriorating. The price: $830.

"without ever bending, distoring or deteriorating"
What about shattering?
I cannot belive this is true.
Glass is a constantly moving surface(slow). After 40 years or so you can actually mesure a difference in width in your living room glass. If this is true for the cd. then after a while it will be rendered useless.
Can I buy it anywhere online?
I've had a regular cd shatter on me... it would be interesting to know what effect those types of g-forces would have on a glass CD
1. Glass is not a liquid: http://www.cmog.org/index.asp?pageId=745
2. Glass CDs are not new (comments): http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/announcements/glass-cd-sounds-like-a-209270.php

anonymous above.. and you believe everything you read on the net ???
It's not a matter of believing the above links. If I simply say these things, they just sound like noise. By linking to articles concerning subjects which I already know the facts of, it provides credibility to an otherwise baseless charge. The only point above that I have not verified in some way (other than Internet searches) is point #2. I had not known that production runs were made in glass; I had thought they were stamped from metal to metal, but it (like the other FACTS) makes sense.
