Chinese Theft of the Day: Smart Car Design Stolen

The Chinese company CMEC plans to start SELLING A COPY of the DaimlerChrysler Smart Car which they're calling the City Smart. Not actually paying for a designer capable of original design and no doubt using semi-slave labor to manufacture it, the car will cost $5,250. The major difference, however, is that the City Smart will be electric.

First I would not blame the whole race or the country. Both had been screwed in the ass big time for two centuries by the west that caused 200 years of disapora, hardship and disintergation of everything that we hold dear.

Speaking of diaspora, Overseas Chinese has similar standards of living as the west be it in host countries or their own like Hong Kong, Singapore or Taiwan. Major contributions in arts, science and finance from them are evident everywhere. Therefore it is not the race but rather an antiquated marxis system slowly and painfully morphing into a new capitalistic system

The problems are the judicial and governmental infrastructures which are still in its infancy since China only opened up 25 years ago and there were no precedence to fall back on prior to that. Everything starts from scratch warts and all.

The pace of development however is fast and real. There are genuine acknowledgement of mistakes and genuine effort to learn from the best. There is genuine reform where the current stage is a far cry from the days of Tiananmen square.

Of course we follow the propaganda and knee-jerked ourselves due to age-old prejudices. Remember Japan in the 60s?

Interesting thing is that Chrysler and other auto manufacturers have been saying they will provide consumers with electric cars for over a decade and the closest thing we have available is a golf-cart looking thing and the Segway Personal Transporter. I would bet the Chinese, who need less polution as much as anyone, will have this car market ready in a year. Compared to other automakers who have draged their feet for over 10 years I think it's FUNNY. The time for alternative transportation is NOW not in the "Future" at an unspecified date!

IMO!

Hey second anonymous. Can you spell brainwashed? Try learning some non-commie approved history before you try selling that stuff here.

The reason big car manufacturers haven't successfully marketed an electric car is that people don't want them! Who wants a car that tops out at 35 mph and can only make it across town and back once? In order for them to be successful, they have to be desirable. Fuel will have to reach $10 a gallon or the technology has to get better (new LIon battery technology is promising) to make them desirable.
