Fisher-Price Launches MP3 Player For Toddlers
I told you APRIL 9 that Fisher-Price planned to launch an MP3 player for toddlers, and refuted a TIMES Online article that claimed the product would be called the "iTod." Today the company announced the product, called the KID-TOUGH FP3 PLAYER, as well as a DIGITAL CAMERA for toddlers. An iTunes-like music store hosted by DIGITAL RIVER will be offered to buyers of the player. Both products are aimed at kids 3 YEARS OLD and up

Comments:
This item is being referred to as a kid friendly MP3 player.
What is left out from commercials, online store sites, and even the packaging is that this player will NOT play MP3's. Nor will it play WAV, WMA, MPG, or any other music files. The Fisher Price FP3 player uses a proprietary fp3 file format. No conversion software is currently available. However the included software does allow a parent to rip songs from their own CD's.
So, the solution is simple. Use Nero or another CD creation tool to burn a CD. Then import the CD into the FP3 software.
If you wanted to make all those extra CD's you would have bought a CD player for your child instead of the FP3 player. So instead of actually burning a disk:
Most CD burning software (I like to use Nero) can create disk images on the user’s hard drive as well. Create an disk image then download Daemon Tools here.
Daemon Tools will create a virtual CD/DVD drive that can mount the CD image created in Nero. Then use the FP3 software to import the song files.
It worked for me this Christmas morning. Well, until there is a way to convert the song files. Hmmmmm.
yes, this "mp3" player is actually a fp3 player. You can upload your own cd's to convert to an fp3 file, or you can purchase music from the fisher price store. HOWEVER, we use Macs in our house, and the software is not compatible with them. BOO to fisher price, Mac's rule!!!
