Shotgun Flashlight For Sale On Internet
More proof you can buy anything online: The ARES Defense Systems Company is selling a Mag-Light flashlight that doubles as a SHOTGUN. A grenade-style pin removes the safety, and the flashlight fires a .410 shotgun round out the back when a button is pressed. A Mini-Mag size fires a .380 round.

We occasionally receive requests for information regarding a product formerly manufactured by Ares Defense Systems. The Companion product has not been produced in 6-7 years. Very few were ever manufactured; all were registered with BATF as "AOW" (Any Other Weapon) per NFA guidelines and all were transfered with ATF approval to Federally licensed dealers possessing a Special Occupational Tax stamp. We do not manufacture, advertise, sell or support this product.

...Just hope the user doesn't point the thing the wrong way
Great more irresponsible gun makers. Like this product ever had a lawful purpose....
Yo. Read the comments. They don't make the frakkin' thing anymore.

A backup weapon for a law enforcement officer, swat member?
How would those be unlawful?
Retarded anonymous cowards.
So making a Pen gun is totally out of the question
This would be a great defensive weapon. As someone with a missing leg, I walk with a sword cane for self defense. I would love a gun cane but I have not found anyone who mass-produces them. The makers of flashlight guns (and potential can guns/sword canes) are no more irresponsible than car manufacturers are for ppl driving drunk; there are always some who will abuse their freedoms
It's always good to have non-weapon accessories with firearm capabilities. You never know when it can save your life, especially since these products would never be suspected as firearms. But you've got to learn to operate them very well and never be sloppy about carrying them around or packing them up. It is an investment in time/effort.
A firearm would be especially useful to someone missing a leg as lee451 is, since their options might be quite a bit more limited... i.e. running away fast might not be a possibility! Although I imagine recoil is more of an issue! >_<
My name is Mike; I found this when doing a semi-related Google search.
I am a licensed FFL, or federal firearms licensee-- a gun dealer. In addition, I hold a SOT, a "special occupational taxpayer" license which allows me to sell firearms regulated by the NFA (National Firearms Act). These are things such as machineguns, short-barreled ("sawed off") rifles and shotguns, sound suppressors ("silencers"), and AOWs ("Any Other Weapons").
This flashlight gun, and all gadget guns (pen guns, cane guns, etc.) are AOWs. They cannot legally be sold by most firearms dealers; it takes a SOT holder to sell them. To purchase one, an individual must get permission from their county sheriff, must get fingerprinted and photographed twice, and must mail all those PLUS an application completed in duplicate to the Bureay of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives. They then go through a very thorough 2-3 month background check. If the buyer ever wants to sell the NFA weapon, they can sell it in-state (and have the buyer go through the same process) OR they MUST sell it to a dealer to have it taken out of state.
The Ares Mag Light guns are generally novelties and are collected by individuals who find them interesting. The gun has been out of production for some time, as Mag Light's attorneys weren't too happy with Ares over this contraption. The folks who collect them, as mentioned above, are known to their county sheriffs AND are nationally registered-- in addition to the 2-3 month background check. While they collect "scary" guns, they're also the most legal beagles on the planet-- they have to be with all the scrutiny they go through!
Please let me know if you have other questions about NFA weapons, legal processes necessary to obtain one, or just have general firearms questions. I'll be happy to assist.
Sincerely,
Mike

That is probably the dumbest thing I have ever heard
"Great more irresponsible gun makers. Like this product ever had a lawful purpose...."
Gun makers are not irresponsible, they provide tools. It is up to the user to be responsible for their actions, period. As I look around my desk, I see a keyring, several pens, various cords some heavy objects and an exacto knife that I could use to harm or kill somebody, that doesn't mean that I'm going to do it. As for a lawful purpose, there's nothing wrong with wanting to protect ones self. It's the UNlawful people out there that create a need for devices like this.
The mag light is a one of a kind product and should be treated with respect. You should not abuse or misuse it and must have expireance. Do not damage OR MIGHT BACK FIRE!!! ITS UNIQUE AND BRILLIANT!!!!
I VOTE THAT THE SHOGGUN FLASH LIGHT SHOULD REPRODUCED AND BE INTRODUCED BACK INTO SOCIETY.
IT WILL SAVE MORE THAN LIVES
MAYBE THE WORLD!!!!.
always blame the gun makers, its never the actions of some whacked out socialist, who doesn't take responsibility for their own actions. yes, blame an inanimate object for some social misfits action. any liberals who can obtain one of these awesome lights should use it on themselves.
From a law enforcement standpoint, items like these should not be manufactured (even though they have stopped only because maglight had a problem with them)for safety reasons. I am all for everyone owning as many guns as they wish. Items such as these are not for defense, they are to catch someone off guard and do bodily harm, more then likely to an officer that is looking out for your protection. If a person wants to protect themselves, go out and buy a gun and get the proper permits to carry them. If a person is confronted by an officer that has a gun, he knows that is a gun and would treat the situation as such. If a person is confronted that has an item such as this light/gun, it is putting the officers safety in doubt because he would treat the item as it appears, a flashlight. Light sould come out of a flashlight, not a bullet. I am the first to speak out loud for gun rights and the right for someone to protect themselves but, do it right. BUY A GUN AND GET A PERMIT TO CARRY IT WITH PRIDE AND USE COMMEN SENSE!!!

It seems like a pretty cool gadget and I'd like to have one to put up in my collection, but I'd much rather carry one of my handguns (as I usually do). I have a large collection of old, new and unusual weapons. That one would make a great addition, but I wouldn't carry it. I much prefer my Sig or my Glock 30.
I do indeed think that this a great product, however these things usually get in the wrong hands, for all the responsible uses there is always one idiot that has to ruin it. That makes me a little nervous but, they will invent things with or without your help. I am neither pro or con for this product.
i want three.it will go good with my 22cal zippo lighter.
where do ya find a 22cal zippo lighter?
Save the world you say? If there are zombies involved, I can see it as a distinct possibility.

Give me a break, of course it has a lawfull purpose. To blow a hole in someone who intends to do you bodily harm. Thats lawful, and if you don't think it should be maybe someone who does will "happen" to be there when you need them to save your life.
