Stanford Robot Car -- San Fran to L.A. In 2007

Stanford University robot propellerheads, who won the Pentagon's DARPA Grand Challenge autonomous robot car race last year, plan to build another robot car that will drive from SAN FRANCISCO TO LOS ANGELES next year -- without human control. Although the plan is to allow the robot car to drive the whole way, a human driver will be in the car in case the robot freaks out.
