Australian Lifeguards Get Motion-Detection Cams

Australia's famous lifeguards may be able to extend their reach by hundreds of miles thanks to a new camera-based system CAMERA-BASED SYSTEM that alerts them if someone is swimming outside a "flagged" area. The idea is that cams watch the beach, and special software can tell whether people are just sitting on the beach or actually swimming. The system would enable existing lifeguards to "watch" beaches currently unguarded. (No word on whether the cams will have to wear those funky caps.) Some U.S. pool lifeguards already use a similar system that detects motionless SINKING bodies.
