Not as silly as it looks. I would have killed for something like that when I was in the hospital in June.
It was written "Called the" and then 5 squares/characters. So what is it really called and why do I see squares when I should see something else?

actually... the japanese is pronounced "sukutoppu"... kinda sounds like the last bit of desktop, but without the "de".
In Japanese, 'sukue' (pronounced to 'sku-eh') means desk; 'toppu' is 'top'. So it suggests a desk without legs and sounds a little, tiny bit like 'scooter'. As for 'de' bit, it works out as 'goro-ne-de-sukutoppu', or 'Rolling, as-you-recline sukutoppu'. Now, choosing 'de' in roman script rather than the Japanese character is a typical marketting mystery. Maybe they like the sort of 'French' accent it gives the product. You'd have to ask the marketting pros who did this what they were getting at. It's stuff like that that makes making sense of Japanese senseless.
If you look at the portion that is written all in Katakana (just under the main lettering) it is clearly meant as "Gorone Desktop" of course it can also be read as "Gorone De Sukutop", "Gorone de" meaning something like "while you are relaxing/sleeping" (goro goro meaning to relax as well as to roll, which I don't believe is the meaning here). It seems pretty clear that "de" is meant to be read both as a particle and also as part of the word "desktop", thus its being written in romanized characters to distinguish it. "Gorone De Desktop".
"Tsukue" is actually the Japanese word for desk so if that is what they meant they would have used "tsu" instead of "su", two very different characters in Japanese.
Wouldn't be too hard to build, really. Go out and buy an existing hospital bed table. Add a bottom shelf to support your tower and attach a clip-on mouse and keyboard tray. The desk is really cool though. The only problem i would have with it is that, obviously, it wouldn't support a 19" flat screen crt monitor very well.
Can Christmas hurry up so I can get one
$173 is a bit much, but still the thing is way cool looking.
What about those of us who are too lazy to sit up in bed?
Looks almost perfect for use in my recliner. Why is the fact that desk designers put comofrt last a reason that I should be called lazy? I want recliner comfort when I use my computer
