I think when they say that the doll recognizes its "potty" - they are most likely referring to the receptacle in which a toddler goes, not the doll's "poop"...

Does anyone really need a faux "real toddler" in their house? I mean, for most of us, the real thing is more than enough toddler to handle. A creepy Chuckiesque doll is entirely unescessary....

Hi im thinking about buying the amazing amanda doll for my 2 year old and Im not sure thats a good idea is there anyone in here who can give me some advice about that doll and if she is worth buying thanks a lot...

Anyway, i didnt come to hate, (just sorta happened). I looked here just cuase i heard the toy mentioned on the news and i was curious what the hot toys were this season, cause i remember when N64, and tickle me elmo were the hot tickets. Why not just "I love you"? Anyone who has been around toddlers that love someone a lot knows they nearly ALWAYS compare to something ELSE they love, to show you how "big" their love for you is. Sound realistic to me...
why so hard on a toy
I got my 5 year old This doll and it keeps screwing up and we have to shut it off and re programing it I thik it was a waste of money But it is cute when it works.Its freaky looking however!!!
I got this doll for my 5 year old. She loves the doll and really enjoys playing with her. She does get frustrated when Amanda keeps saying the same thing over and over. The only thing is the doll is not working right. She keeps repeating herself and turning off. As of tonight she isn't even turning herself on. I will be making a trip to the toy store to return this doll. To many malfuctions.
I got this same doll for my 3 yr old Thankfully I did not pay the full price but 50.00 still 50.00 too much. I am having the same problems as everyone else...when I wrote the company this is what they wrote:
Thank you for emailing me about the Amanda doll. The batteries are not ready to change until she starts saying please change my batteries about every five minutes or so. When her batteries are really ready to change her speech and reactions will be slower. For some reason she thinks they are low and ready to change but actually you still have over 80% life left in the batteries. When the doll was measured to say the command about the battery being low it was set at the high point of the battery level and not the low point. The doll works best with a high performance battery like Duracell or Engerizer alkaline batteries. It is also recommended not to turn her off each time your done playing with her, she can take a nap or you can put her to sleep by pressing her right hand until she says "Okay Mommy I will be quiet now". You should turn her off is your not going to be playing with her for a few months. Please let me know if I can help you any further.
Problem is that she just is not working! Grrr I really need to research stuff more before I go out and purchase something like this.
does anyone who has this doll still have the instruction manual for it? i bought one for my daughter for christmas this year, and somehow lost the instructions...if i can get her working i can give you an older childs reaction to the doll.

Someone purchased the amanda doll for my 5 year old and it is a bit scary. my daughter said she was not responding.so she pulled her eyelash out and it no longer works. i think that is were she has a computer chip or something. to make it work all you have to do is turn it on and squeeze her right hand she tells you what to do.. overall it is a fun doll.
I changed the batteries and it just won't work.

Not all Amanda babies are white with blue eyes and blond hair. You can get her in other races as well.

One day it may happen, when the expensive interactive doll you buy your daughter will wind up in your son's bed. With dolls these days that have open mouths, like the Baby Alive doll they just came out with, and now with other dolls that talk and use voice recognition, it could make the perfect sex toy. Very Scarey thought, eh? Don't say i didn't warn you!
My mom bought this doll for my daughter... we had her up and working... she went to sleep the first night .. now when she wakes up her eyes dont work (they wont open)... wtf.. and i have tried calling the # they said to call for help..and no one has returned my calls..go figure. I think i should just take her back.. but my mom has thrown the inside packing stuff away.... any suggestions???

As far as THIS comment is concerned....It's just a doll. People are making it sound like it's the end of the world if your child owns it. My sister bought this doll for my 4 year old for christmas and she absolutely loves it. I think it's unbelievable. Now as far as the whole "sex" thing...That's going a bit too far. It's those people who have a problem if all they can think about from some toy for toddlers, is sex. If a parent can say that it would make the perfect sex toy then I think they are the ones with the problems.
If your child, at 4, 5, or 6 years old understands what the meaning of having sex is or if they understand what you do or how you do when you are having sex then I think those parents really need to rethink what they do infront of their children. A child that young should never know what that is. They are too young and can only learn that from someone either doing something infront of them or explaining to them what and how.

i purchased the doll for my daughter last christmas. Two weeks she stopped working so i opened the back where the batteries are and the batteries leak inside and the doll no longer works. I have the receipt from target but when I took it back they told me that my receipt is expired and there is nothing they can do about it. Does anyone have the phone # or any ideas where or who I can speak to?
I find the doll very difficult for kids to play with, but my daughter loves to play with her and she misses the doll.
